For me a bike represents the ultimate freedom. You have mobility without being cash strapped because of excessive car payments. Or being victim to the ebb and flow of gas prices. And you can enjoy a deeper connection to your surroundings. Ah, yes, riding a bike is the best. Which, is why I decided to use biking as a visual for A Misfit Entrepreneurs Guide to Building a Business Your Way.
For myself and many others, entrepreneurship is a choice we make to exercise and enjoy our freedom. We want the freedom of autonomy, making decisions based on what’s best for ourselves rather than what someone else deems important. We want the freedom to define what success looks, feels and sounds like for ourselves. Ultimately, we want the freedom to ensure our day-to-day activities align with our deeper purpose.
Now Is the Time
I believe that entrepreneurship is my generations retirement plan. We have been told that we cannot count on social security. Jobs come and go; the days of working for one company for life and getting a pension are over. The stock market is volatile and holds no guarantee. Debt is at an all time high. Real estate is a limited resource, we cannot all be land mongers.
Simply put, our livelihood is connected to our entrepreneurial abilities. Even the leaders I work with at lager organizations need to think and act more like entrepreneur’s to ensure their “business” remains relevant in the 21st Century marketplace. These are necessary life skills, and the benefits of cultivating them will spill over into other parts of your life.
Now is the time to start mastering the skills that will empower you to build your dream of freedom. It does not matter where you are at in your journey. We all have opportunities for growth, whether you are just now connecting with your entrepreneurial spirit or have been at this for years, it is a journey of mastery. One never arrives, but one must make a choice to get started and the time to start is now! What will you choose?
What are you currently doing to better yourself?
What’s holding you back?
How will you set yourself up for success in your entrepreneurial endeavors?
What do you believe is the secret to being a successful misfit entrepreneur?
Next I will share the three elements of mastering the entrepreneurial journey…and they have to do with biking!
