Q&A with 2015 Youth E+ Awards Recipient, Zayne Hoyland

Chase Hopkins presented Zanye the 2015 Youth E+ Award

Chase Hopkins presented Zayne the 2015 Youth E+ Award

Zayne was chosen as the 2015 Youth E+ Award recipient for being a hardworking volunteer that tirelessly helps his fellow students. He is specifically credited with raising over $9,000 at their 3rd Annual Fort Collins High School silent auction.  The funds raised were used to help students in the music department, Student Council, FBLA and DECA travel to their respective events outside of Colorado.  Students that do not have the means to attend prom or purchase graduation gowns also benefited from the money Zayne helped raise.

Join me in learning more about this exceptional young man in this Q&A.

Q: What inspired you to try something different? Zayne: I’ve always wanted to go against the norm, I’ve always felt different than anyone else. I think when you ask what inspires me, it’s Lady Gaga, she embraces being different, and when I am faced with something to do that is different, I usually end up doing it because I don’t want to be ordinary, I want to go above and beyond all the time to show my strengths and prove to myself that I can do anything I put my mind to.

Q:What challenges have you had to overcome to get where you are today? Zayne: I’ve encountered many challenges to be able to get to where I am, I am very proud and honored with where I am at in life and how far I have come. I will not go into detail about this but, people will try and push you down, or make you feel like you can’t do it, but it’s those people that put the fire in my belly so strong that I can’t wait to prove them wrong.

Q: What has been the most rewarding part of your efforts so far? Zayne: In life, sometimes you will feel like you have done a lot so in return you should get whatever you want, but that is not the case. Personally, I love giving back, it’s the feeling of accomplishment and honor and having people look up to me which is the most rewarding part of going above and beyond.

Q: What advice would you give to other people that are courageously taking risks and challenging the status quo? Zayne: “Ignore all hatred and criticism, live for what you create and die protecting it”-Lady Gaga. This is the quote that gets me through everything I do.

Q: What do you plan to do next? Zayne: I will continue doing what I’m doing, I have recently been chosen Student Body Vice President at my school and I plan on taking many tasks and completing them and doing the best I can to make events amazing. I am also a senior and I think this is my year to take my leadership skills to the next level and lead the school in a positive way.

Q: How can people get/stay in touch with you? Zayne: I am on social media a lot, you can contact me on Facebook: Zayne Hoyland, Twitter: @zaynehoyland, Instagram: @zaynehoyland, SnapChat: zayne_monsterz. And you can also contact me on my phone at (970) 673-5638.

Thank you Zayne for having the courage to show up authentically, take risks and challenge the status quo. Your commitment to being of service is greatly appreciated. We are excited to see you take your leadership to the next level this year!
